Our Story, Our Business, Franco's Legacy
We started Let’s be Frank Bru in honour and memory of Franco Alfredo D’este. He was tragically shot in Cape Town, South Africa on the 07th September 2019, he was only 20 years old. Our world was shattered and there is not a day that goes by that we do not miss him dearly. Franco was a very kindhearted person and was so talented too. He started Hip Hop dancing at the age of 10 years old and came 2nd in the Hip Hop World Championships in Germany in 2010, he was 11 years old. Franco was a natural born entertainer and when he danced on stage, he not only danced but he entertained and captivated the audience with his charm and vibrant personality.
When Franco was in high school, he always said he wanted to be a businessman and him and a few friends started their own clothing brand, called Afriking in 2016, he was 17 years old. He had a passion for business and started a few businesses when he finished high school. He was registered to study a BBA in Brand Building & Management in 2020.
Our business Let’s be Frank Bru was inspired by Franco, he had a lot of charismatic sayings and one was Let’s be Frank, which means let’s keep it real and honest and he called most of his male friends Bru which means brother. Franco loved clothes and fashion and always kept up with the latest trends, however he loved good quality and comfortable clothing and this is why our clothing line is very simplistic but trendy. One of our products we sell in South Africa only is the 3D prints (pictures and lamps) which are to always keep our loved one’s memories alive. We can however ship these overseas on request.
It has been a hard journey for us but we believe through this business we are not only creating awareness but can also inspire others to never give up on their dreams. It also allows us to keep Franco close to our hearts and remember the wonderful person he was by keeping his Legacy alive. We believe Franco would have wanted to give back to the community and therefore we encourage creating business for other small up and coming businesses and in the near future would love to donate to a charity that is close to our hearts.
